Many men say they will support her in “whatever choice she wants” to make. Women want to know what you really think; they want dialogue about all of the options. You have an ethical responsibility to be involved. Whatever choice is made, you will live with as well. Some questions you should consider:

What information do you have concerning the options of parenting, termination & adoption?For the Men

-Have you seen an ultrasound?
-What do you understand about fetal development and prenatal care?
-How would you describe your relationship with the mother of your child? Would relationship training be helpful?
-Describe the family & friend support system you have?
-Do you want to be a father? In what ways do you plan/or are involved with your child?
-What do you think is the job of being a father?
-Is your partner’s living situation stable? With whom do you live? How well does everyone in the household relate?
-What do you know about medical insurance options? Do you have insurance through work? Do you need referrals to state program?
-Are you currently employed? What are you doing to find employment? What kinds of job or position are you interested in? What training or skills do you possess?
-Do you know how to establish and keep a budget? Have you assessed your financial needs for your family unit?
-Have you and the mother reached any agreements about your financial responsibilities to your child?
-What do you know about establishing paternity? Are you registered with the Father’s Registry? (NH)
